Cleanliness is essential for our health and well-being. A clean environment promotes good health, fosters creativity, and enhances the quality of life. This is precisely why our honorable Prime Minister launched the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’, with a vision to have a clean and green India.
However, this vision cannot be realized until and unless we, the citizens of India, make it our mission too. Each one of us has a role to play. Simple acts like properly disposing of our waste, not littering, segregating waste, and recycling can make a big difference.
It is our responsibility to keep our surroundings clean, not just for us, but for our future generations too. We must remember that we have borrowed this earth from our future generations and we need to return it to them in a good state.

Greetings to all present here. Today, I am standing before you to speak on a significant subject which is near and dear to us all – ‘Clean India.’
To begin with, India, our motherland, is not just a piece of land to us. It’s the place where we were born and brought up, the place which provides us with food, shelter, and sustains our life. Therefore, it becomes our moral obligation to keep it clean, beautiful and hygienic.
Cleanliness is not just about keeping our homes and surrounding areas clean. It has a broader meaning. It’s about maintaining overall cleanliness in public places, rivers, roads, and every corner of our country. Maintaining cleanliness is not just the responsibility of the government but also of every citizen. Cleanliness can’t be achieved overnight. It requires consistent efforts from every individual.
Unfortunately, people in our country have a common habit of throwing garbage here and there without thinking about its consequences. The common sights of people throwing waste on the roads and public places, spitting on the roads, open defecation, etc., are not pleasant to see and represent our country poorly. This unhygienic behavior not only pollutes the environment but also poses severe health issues.
Many initiatives have been launched by our government like the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ to spread awareness about the importance of cleanliness and hygiene. This campaign intends to make India clean and create awareness among the citizens about the importance of cleanliness in reducing diseases. However, these initiatives can only be successful when every citizen participates and contributes to the cause.
It’s high time we, as responsible citizens, realize our duty and start taking small steps towards the cleanliness of our country. We should start from our homes, our locality, and extend it to our city and ultimately to our country. We should avoid throwing waste on the roads and use dustbins instead. We should educate and encourage other people to do the same.
We must make cleanliness a part of our life, just like our daily chores. Schools and educational institutions should incorporate cleanliness in their curriculum, and students should be educated about the importance of maintaining cleanliness. They should be encouraged to participate in cleanliness campaigns and drive.
In conclusion, a clean India is the need of the hour. It’s not just the responsibility of the government or specific organizations but of every citizen. Let us all pledge today to contribute our bit towards a cleaner and healthier India.
