2-minute Speech on Subhash Chandra Bose

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I feel privileged today to speak about a great freedom fighter and a charismatic leader who is fondly remembered as Netaji, Subhash Chandra Bose. He was a man who believed that actions speak louder than words and his life was a testament to this belief.

Born on 23rd January 1897, in Cuttack, Odisha, Bose was a brilliant student and a voracious reader. He completed his early education from Ravenshaw Collegiate School, after which, he moved to England to appear for Indian Civil Services Examination. Even though he successfully passed the examination with flying colors, he decided to devote his life to the freedom struggle of India.

Subhash Chandra Bose was a man of strong convictions. He was not satisfied with the non-violent approach of the Indian National Congress towards the British rule and aimed for a more aggressive approach. This led him to establish the Forward Bloc in 1939. His famous quote, “Give me blood, and I will give you freedom” displays his unwavering determination and patriotism.

During World War II, Bose saw an opportunity to free India from British rule. He left India, met with Adolf Hitler in Germany and also formed the Free India Legion there. He then moved to Japan and with their help, formed the Azad Hind Fauj, or the Indian National Army (INA) in 1942.

The INA was composed of Indian soldiers from the British Indian army who had been captured by Japan. He sought to liberate India with an army of Indians, living by his motto, “It is blood alone that can pay the price of freedom.”

His charismatic leadership, powerful speeches, and unyielding love for the nation stirred a sense of patriotism among the soldiers. The INA, under his leadership, fought many battles against the British forces.

Unfortunately, Bose could not live to see the India he so passionately fought for, as he died in an air crash under mysterious circumstances in 1945. But his unyielding spirit and love for the motherland continue to inspire millions of Indians even today.

Subhash Chandra Bose was not just a leader or a freedom fighter; he was a beacon of hope, bravery, and determination. His indomitable spirit and relentless fight against the British rule have etched his name in golden letters in the annals of Indian history.

In conclusion, Subhash Chandra Bose was a man of action who believed in “total mobilisation” and “total war”. He was ready to employ any means to free India from the British rule. Even though he is not with us today, his dynamic leadership, his fiery speeches and his love for the nation continue to inspire us. He showed us that nothing is impossible if one has the courage to fight against all odds.

As we remember and honor this great soul, let’s imbibe his values of courage, determination and love for the nation. Let’s dedicate ourselves to work towards a better India, an India that Bose dreamed of. His life and struggle for India’s independence will forever remain a source of inspiration for all of us.

Thank you.
