Good Morning everyone! Today, I stand before you to speak on the occasion of Republic Day.
Republic Day is one of the most important days in India. Celebrated every year on 26th January, it marks the day when our Constitution came into effect. On this day in 1950, India became a democratic republic, and we Indians were given the power to govern ourselves.
Why do we celebrate Republic Day? We celebrate it to honor the day our country, India, became sovereign. We celebrate it to remember and to pay homage to the great leaders who fought for us and gave us the freedom we enjoy today. We celebrate it to remember that we are a nation of diversity, unity, and equality.
But Republic Day is not just about celebration. It is also a day to reflect on our progress as a nation and to think about our duties as citizens. It is a day to pledge to uphold the principles enshrined in our Constitution – justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity.
On this Republic Day, let us take a moment to remember the sacrifices of our freedom fighters. Let us appreciate the beauty of our diverse nation and pledge to preserve its unity. Let us strive to be good citizens and contribute to the growth and prosperity of our nation.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Good Morning!
Today, we are gathered here to celebrate an occasion of immense pride and honor for our country, an occasion that marks the foundation of our republic, the Republic Day. On 26th January 1950, India officially adopted its constitution, becoming an independent republic. So, today is not just another holiday but a day to remember our national heroes who sacrificed their lives to give us this freedom.
When we unfurl the tricolor today, let’s remember the struggles and sacrifices that helped us earn our freedom and transformed India into a sovereign, socialist, secular and democratic republic. The beauty of our nation lies in its diversity, a melting pot of various cultures, traditions, languages and religions, yet we stand united. Our Constitution provides us with the right to freedom, the right to equality and the right to express and uphold these values that form the backbone of our nation.
Our Republic Day is a celebration of the spirit of freedom, the spirit of democracy but also a time to introspect. It’s a time to remember our duties as citizens and to pledge to uphold the ethos of our Constitution. It is a time to remind ourselves that with freedom comes responsibility. We must ensure that we use our rights for the betterment of our society and our country. Freedom should not be misunderstood as the liberty to do as we please, but as an opportunity to do what is right.
Looking back, we have come a long way in the past seven decades. We have made significant achievements in various fields. We’ve sent missions to the moon, we’ve made strides in technology, infrastructure, healthcare, and education. But still, a lot needs to be done. It is our responsibility, as the young, capable, and driven citizens of this country, to ensure that our growth is sustainable, inclusive and balanced.
As we commemorate this day, we must remember that we have the power to change our nation for the better. Each and every one of us can contribute to the progress of our country in our own little way. Starting from nurturing values of tolerance, respect and harmony in our children, to ensuring a clean and green environment for our future generations. Let us pledge to do our bit, to pay back to our motherland, to serve it with our heart and soul.
I would like to conclude by saying that Republic Day is not just about celebrating our past, but also about building our future. It’s about respecting what we have and striving for what we don’t. It’s about cherishing our freedom and valuing our heritage. It’s about maintaining our unity amidst diversity and standing together in times of distress.
On this day, let us ignite in our hearts, the flame of patriotism and venerate the tireless efforts of our freedom fighters. Let the tricolor fly high and remind us of our glorious past, our vibrant present and our promising future. Let us not just be proud Indians, but responsible Indians.
