In an age of political unrest and social injustice, Shivaji Maharaj emerged as a beacon of hope for the common people. Born in the hill-fort of Shivneri on February 19, 1630, Shivaji was a born fighter. His mother, Jijabai, was a deeply religious woman who instilled in Shivaji, the importance of ethics and righteous values. Under her guidance, Shivaji grew up to be a brave and honest leader who was deeply committed to his people and his land.
Shivaji Maharaj demonstrated his leadership skills at a very young age. By sixteen, he managed to gather a dedicated army of Mavala soldiers. His rule was characterized by progressive administration, military prowess, and respect for women. He established a competent and progressive civil rule with the help of disciplined military and well-structured administrative organizations. His innovative military tactics, indomitable courage, and progressive administration catapulted him to the status of one of the greatest warriors of his time.
Shivaji Maharaj was a true visionary. He understood that to maintain his kingdom’s sovereignty, setting up a robust naval force was crucial, making him the Father of the Indian Navy.
