The Grammy Award or GRAMMY is presented for exceptional achievements in the music industry. It was originally known as the Gramophone Award and still, the trophy depicts a gilded gramophone.

On May 4, 1959, the very first Grammy Award ceremony was held to respect and honours the musical accomplishments of performers for the year 1958.
