A. P. J. Abdul Kalam — Father of Missile Program
A. P. J. Abdul Kalam is the father of India’s missile program or Indian missile technology, and he led the country to its first successful nuclear weapons test in 1974. He’s also a scientist, engineer, and visionary who has dedicated his life to making the world a better place through science and technology.
He studied aerospace engineering at MIT and worked on several projects that would eventually lead to India’s first rocket launch in 1963.
Kalam went on to become the 11th President of India in 2002, where he continued his work with space exploration and nuclear research while also focusing on education reform and poverty alleviation in rural areas throughout India.
