Vikram Sarabhai, the father of the Indian space program, was an Indian physicist and space scientist. He is credited with the establishment of India’s first rocket launching station in Thumba in Kerala and with starting the first space science program in India.

Sarabhai was a pioneer in rocketry and satellite communications technology in India. In 1945, he helped establish the Indian Rocket Society (IRS), which later became ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization). He also founded the Atomic Energy Establishment at Thapar University in Punjab.
